CN Tower

in Canada

It all started due to bad television signals. In the 1960s, the tall skyscrapers of Toronto, Canada, hindered proper transmission of signals. It was at this point that the Canadian National Railway Company (CN) decided to step in and save the day. The organization proposed to build a transmission tower that would be taller than all of Toronto’s skyscrapers. The result was the CN Tower — the tallest freestanding structure in the world!

The tower has four observation levels including the Sky Pod, the world’s highest manmade observation deck at 447 meters (1,467 feet). The Glass Floor and the Outdoor Observation deck are located at a height of 342 meters (1,122 feet), while the Indoor Observation deck stands at 346 meters (1,136 feet). Another popular feature of the tower is the 360 Restaurant located about 351 meters (1,150 feet) above ground.  The restaurant rotates once every 72 minutes, providing a complete view of the city below.
