The locals call it \u2018Mosi-oa-Tunya\u2019, meaning \u2018smoke that thunders\u2019. This is an apt name since the falls looks like rising smoke when viewed from \u00a0air. \u00a0The falls are located on the Zambezi River, between Zambia and Zimbabwe. They are composed of 6 separate falls divided by islands on the Zambezi. The Scottish explorer David Livingstone was the first European to discover the falls. He first laid eyes on them on November 16, 1855. He named the falls after Queen Victoria.
